General Solar Street Light Questions

How solar street lights work and who we are.

What is an all-in-one solar street light?

It is a solar street light with the solar panel, LED light and battery built into one unit that mounts at the top of a pole. Traditional split systems keep those parts separate and connect them with cables on site. Our article on all-in-one vs traditional solar street lights compares the two designs.

How does a solar street light work?

During the day, the solar panel charges the battery. After dark, the light runs on that stored energy. Because the panel needs sunlight to charge, where each light is mounted matters as much as the light itself.

How long will a solar street light stay on at night?

It depends on the model, its operating settings and how much charge the battery received that day. Shade, cloud and rain all reduce the energy available, so a figure from a product sheet is not a guarantee for every site. Compare the documented panel and battery figures on our specifications page, and if you need the operating details for a particular model, call our team.

Are you the manufacturer of D1-150W and D2-150W?

No. Solar Street Light Company, by D.O Green Solar Energy Limited, sells and distributes the D1-150W and D2-150W all-in-one solar street lights.

Where are you based?

Our head office is at ASPAMDA Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos. The full address and contact details are on our contact page.

D1 & D2 Product Specifications

What the documented figures mean for each model.

What is the difference between D1-150W and D2-150W?

D1-150W has a 160W monocrystalline panel, a 788Wh battery and a 6500K colour temperature. D2-150W has a 150W monocrystalline panel, a 192Wh battery and an 8000K colour temperature. Both state 15,000 lm, an IP65 rating and a recommended installation height of 6–8 m. The full specifications set the figures side by side.

Does "150W" mean the LED uses 150 watts?

No. D1-150W and D2-150W are model names. The model name should not be read as the LED power consumption. For the solar panel, use the separate panel rating: 160W on D1 and 150W on D2.

Which model should I choose?

Start with the site rather than the model. D1 has the larger panel and battery, but that does not make it the right choice everywhere: the area to be lit, the sunlight at each pole and how the lights will be used all matter. Our guide on how to choose solar street lights walks through those checks, or message us on WhatsApp with details of your site.

Are D1 and D2 waterproof?

Both models have an IP65 rating, which covers protection against dust and water jets. It is not an immersion rating, so the lights should not be treated as suitable for submersion. Install them as the product instructions describe.

What does the colour temperature mean?

Colour temperature describes how white the light looks. D1 is specified at 6500K and D2 at 8000K; the higher figure gives a cooler-looking white. It does not mean one model is brighter, as both state 15,000 lm.

Installation & Solar Street Light Poles

Planning the installation, mounting height and poles.

Do you install solar street lights?

Yes. We supply solar street lights and offer professional installation, but availability depends on the project location. Call our team with your town or city and what needs lighting, and we can confirm whether we can take on the work. Our installation page explains how a project is planned.

What mounting height do D1 and D2 need?

The recommended installation height for both models is 6–8 m. This applies to these two models, not to every solar street light, and the pole position and area to be lit still need to suit your site.

Do you supply solar street light poles?

Yes. We supply poles to suit each project. Pole height, material, design and mounting arrangement are agreed for the order, and galvanized construction can be discussed as a requirement. See our solar street light poles page, then send us your pole requirements on WhatsApp for current pricing and availability.

Can my existing poles be used?

Sometimes. An existing pole needs to be checked for condition, height and bracket compatibility before it is included in the plan, so do not assume every pole will fit. Send photos of the poles on WhatsApp along with any details you have.

What should I check before installing a solar street light?

Check that the panel will get direct sunlight through the day, without shade from buildings, trees or walls, and that its orientation matches the product instructions. Confirm the pole, bracket and fixing position for each light. Our guide explains how to check the sun at every mounting point.

Wholesale Orders & Delivery

Buying one light or many, prices and delivery.

Can I buy a single light, or only in bulk?

Both. We sell individual D1-150W and D2-150W units as well as larger orders. To ask about a single light, call our team.

Do you take wholesale and bulk orders?

Yes. Wholesale enquiries are welcome from resellers, contractors, developers and other project buyers. Minimum quantities and order terms are confirmed for each enquiry rather than published. Our wholesale page explains what to include, or message us on WhatsApp with the model and quantity.

How much do solar street lights cost?

Prices are not listed on the website because they depend on the model, quantity, any poles or installation work, and the project location. Call our team with those details for current pricing.

Do you deliver outside Lagos?

Delivery arrangements depend on the order and where it needs to go. Message us on WhatsApp with your town or city and the quantity, and we will confirm what is possible before you order.

Warranty & Support

Warranty, looking after your lights and getting help.

What warranty do D1 and D2 have?

Both models have a stated 36-month warranty, excluding artificial damage. That summary does not cover every condition, so confirm the applicable warranty terms with us before you buy.

What should I keep in case I need to make a warranty claim?

Keep your proof of purchase and a note of which model is installed at each position, with the installation date. Photos of the installed lights are also useful if you ever need to describe a problem.

Do solar street lights need maintenance?

Yes, some. The panel needs sunlight to charge, so check from time to time that new buildings or growing trees are not shading it, and that dust or debris is not covering it. Follow the product instructions for any care the light needs.

Who do I contact if a light stops working?

Call our team with the model, where it is installed and what you have noticed, such as the light not coming on or staying on for a shorter time than usual. Photos help us understand the setting.
